Mods, if this is in wrong area please move it. I just was so excited I had to post it...lol. So my wife and I were looking for a new tree for this coming Christmas. We wanted one because we should be getting a new house this year and we wanted a new tree for the new house. So anyway, we proceed to look at a few places before Christmas. Most were really expensive trees. I'm tight so I didn't want to spend much. We didn't find anything. So I told my wife let's wait until after Christmas and maybe we'll get lucky. So we went about 4 days after Christmas. Mistake. Most of the places were either sold out or they were donating their display trees. We finally ended up at Macy's. Yes, they have expensive trees. But we looked at a couple a few weeks prior but just didn't want to spend that much money on a tree. SO, we saw 2 trees we liked. Both were sold out but on display. We asked the lady if they were selling their display trees and surprisingly she said yes. But the catch was we had to be put on a list and they were not going to promise we would get one. She said we probably would get one for about 50 to 60 percent off. We were excited! We bought a bunch of ornaments and decorations because we knew what we wanted on our tree. We bought all of our stuff for less than 40 bucks. So I am driving home one day and Macy's calls me. The gentleman said they had a tree for us if we wanted it. I said yes, most definitely! He said they couldn't give us our 1st choice because we were not 1st on the list for that tree. BUT the 2nd tree we wanted was the one we could purchase. He said it was there we just needed to come pay for it. He said it was $1.99! I was so stunned I didn't comprehend what he said. I thought I didn't hear him correctly. So I called my wife and told her we got 1 of the trees we wanted. I didn't tell her the price. I thought she might think I was crazy. Heck, I thought I was crazy. But when I got there and talked to the guy it was the correct tree. We even walked over and looked at it. So I paid 1.99, well plus 6% MD tax for a 1,200.00 dollar Christmas tree. Thank God for the small things in life!!!

Talk about a frugal persons dream! This story does relate to credit. With all you saved, you can pay down a cc and reduce your UTI. There.
