Re: Help with steps in right direction

A friend of mine went through   Wife was ordered to pay all utilities as she was living in the house. She waited until everything was going to be shut off for non pay(they were all in his name)  then put them in her name..........he filed suit in small claims   won a judgment against he!!!!   He will never see any money BUT  it will hurt her for a long time

Re: Help with steps in right direction

Thanks Happy Days!

I can't really wait... but I will try to. I don't have the extra money to pay them. For the first time in a long time I am finally able to pay my bills when they arrive.  Being a single parent raising 3 kids alone puts you far in debt, especially when he takes off with everything and leaves you with all the bills. I was able to sell my house before the foreclosure... only thing that didn't hit my credit report.
Anyway.... put myself back through school, two kids have left the house and now have decent job. Been paying off all those old bills and finally caught up. Now I just have to take care of my credit... unfortunately never could afford to buy anything, didn't have money to pay bills - so my credit never meant anything. Alas... now it does and through all you wonderful people trying to get that taken care of. I was just hoping that since these bills are 5 years old that maybe if DV'd the CA that maybe they couldn't actually prove they were mine and they'd drop them (wishful thinking).  I just thought I'd try that route before opting to pay anything.
Thanks!

Thanks Byrdman!

That's great to know someone else was able to do this... I'd rather wait and try the PFD than pay in full. These debts really aren't mine. I paid what I was responsible for. The ex didn't pay his part.
Thanks for sharing! Maybe the light at the end of the tunnel is getting a bit closer!!!
I just was jumping through all the hoops hoping somewhere along the line that someone couldn't prove the debt and they'd delete so I wouldn't have to as far back as the OC.

Thanks again!

Had that same situation LOL! I am carrying some 120 day lates on my TU from utility company, due to the EXACT same situation--utilities in my name, she's in the house, utilities not paid, my credit screwed.

Re: Help with steps in right direction

With you two speaking of utilities.... that was one bill I never, ever was able to pay on time... has anyone ever tried to GW a utility company with success?
In this state they report lates to CRA. My lates go back years and years. I am about to finally pay off my last bill through payment arrangements (all payments made on time) and don't currently use their services, so once this bill is paid off I no longer have anything with them. I was wondering if it was worth a shot to GW and explain and see if they'd remove all the 'late' history.... (years and years of it)...
Has anybody tried with utilities?

GL. In SE WI, WE-Energies rules the roost and they are tyrants. I hate them. I wound up paying off the Ex's utilities (actually, utes were in both names). Do you know that those bastages put this crap on my CR under my new account? They are currently not hearing anything about GW from at this point.
