I can't say what motivated that comment on the video because we don't know exactly how that person used the cards and account.  What I can say is when I did AZEO before buying my house I rotated which card reported a balance each month and had no issues like that.  It worked fine for me.  What you gain by doing that is not just the maximum FICO scoring but you lower the risk that a creditor will close your card or decrease your credit line for lack of usage.

Really? I thought this helped your credit score go up even only a slight bit.

So you recommend switching cards every month for the AZEO reporting? See I plan on using all of my cards regularly each month so i doubt these cards would close my account or lower my credit limit right? If I'm using the cards?

My worry is what will show up on the credit report if I only report my 1 same card with a balance. i don't want NR to show like the person who commented wrote happened with him.

It CAN help your score.  Having all cards reporting no balance WILL hurt your score.  If you are actively using all your cards your creditors shouldn't panic if you pay off each month.  What I am saying is by rotating which card reports a balance you reduce the risk that all the other cards reporting no balance for 6 months or more start reporting NR instead of good.  My guess is the person who made that comment didn't use the card and let it have no balance for 5 months probably over a year where the creditor simply stopped reporting.

Oh okay. Yeah I'm glad I found out that rotating the card every month is a better approach, I was gonna keep having my Cap1 card report a small balance and pay off the other cards in full before the statement date. But not now. But there will probably be a few week overlap where 2 cards are reporting a balance on my report at the same time(1 from current statement and 1 from previous statement)as I rotate cards to show a balance. For example, my Cap1 reports on the 14th, my Chase Freedom Rise reports on the 28th. So I either pay the Cap1 balance in full and all cards will show a zero balance for 2 weeks until I leave a little balance on my Chase card. Or, I leave the Cap1 balance for another month, 2 weeks later leave a balance on my Chase card and then 2 weeks later leave no balance on my Cap1 card. See what I'm saying? For 2 weeks there will be either no balance on any card if I choose to do it that way, or 2 balances showing until I pay 1 off 2 weeks later.

I'm probably confusing everyone lol.

Here's something else I just read. Is this true does anyone know?

"It's also worth noting that the one card you leave a balance on should not be a Chase card, ideally. Any time you pay your balance down to zero Chase will report it to the bureaus regardless of where you are in your billing cycle. So you might pay your $10 min payment to Chase 2 weeks into your AZEO and now you're showing all zeros."

Of course I was gonna leave a balance on my Chase card every few months as I pick a different card to do that. But now I'm not sure I should.

Yes that's true. You should not use your Chase card as your balance-reporting card.

How about if I left a small balance on my Chase card as the reporting card, then used the card as normal? Then when I wanted to make a payment or 2 throughout the month I still kept leaving a small balance? That way it wouldn't go down to $0 and Chase wouldn't report it to the bureaus. Would that be a way around Chase reporting $0 balances all the time?

Well even if I want to do AZEO I doubt I can even do it now. Just got another random balance report to the bureaus by Synchrony Bank today from my Amazon Secured Card. If you might recall, this happened to me twice in October when my Card was first used. I even called and left a message with the President of Synchrony Bank and got a callback from the executive resolution team. She told me it shouldn't have happened but I told her that I have read plenty of forums where other card holders that are part of Synchrony experience the same thing. She told me she would "escalate the issue" but obv nothing is gonna get fixed. There's obv something in their algorithms that allow for balance reporting all the time.

So because of this problem, unless I don't use my Amazon Secured Card at all(which is not gonna happen), there will be multiple balances on this card reported every month - which will negate my AZEO.

Any suggestions? I am so bummed. I would have never gotten this $200 Amazon Secured Card if I knew the history of Synchrony Bank Credit Cards. It's one thing if I have a high credit score, then this wouldn't be an issue. But when you are new to credit and trying to build that credit score - this kind of thing is a real annoyance.

Synchrony cards are notorious for reporting randomly and unpredictably.  So if you want to do AZEO you can't really use the Synchrony card.

Sigh... yeah I wish I knew that before I even thought about getting that darn card. I would have never got it. So now I can't do AZEO.

Question, will only reporting 1 small balance a month on rotating cards plus the Amazon Card random reporting hurt my credit building process? I mean if I buy something for $200 on that card, that will get reported to the bureaus which will really hurt my utilization. Do you recommend if I purchase something on the Amazon Card to pay it off right away, then call and have Synchrony do an off-cycle report?

What do I do? Thanks

Thanks

No I do not recommend that you get into anything that intricate, and it is unlikely that Synchrony would be cooperative in any event.

It's not necessary that you have only 1 account reporting a balance. The difference between having 2 cards reporting a balance and 1 card reporting a balance is not that big a deal.

I recommend that you either not use the Synchrony card, or use it very sparingly and for very small purchases.

Yes, as long as it doesn't go down to zero.

^^^This. AZEO used to be a thing when FICO 2, 4 and 5 ruled the land. It obviously still is for those versions of FICO. For FICO 8, it is not a thing, unless you only have a few cards. I typically have two or three of my cards report a balance and only see a slight move downward on EQ when I go from two to three cards. EX and TU seem pretty stoic. These balances are all <5% util (often <1%).

AZEO definitely works and so does AZE2 or AZE3 given enough cards to work with.

Thx for sharing. I have 4 starter cards with starter CL's totalling $1500.

Question for you or anyone.(Long question)If let's say for 7 months I was using the Amazon Secured Card a lot and it kept reporting my balances all the time, plus I had another card report a small balance - but on the 8th month I didn't use the Amazon card at all and only had 1 card report a  small balance, would my credit score remember the 7 prior months with a much higher utilization and my credit score wouldn't be as high? Or would the 8th month with only 1 of my cards reporting a small balance get me a much higher score and it wouldn't factor in at all what happened with the utilization the prior 7 months?

Am I making sense? Basically would my credit score be higher if all 8 months only had 1 card report a small balance compared to 7 months of 2 cards reporting and only the 8th month 1 card reporting?

Thanks

Re: Hi I have an AZEO question

First, please STOP this insanity of always quoting the prior post. It took me 5 minutes just to scroll through all the quote garbage on my phone.

Cards reporting a balance is a point in time metric. Therefore, the prior 7 months is not looked at by Fico when changing which card reports a balance. Just remember, it is better for 2 cards to report small balances than zero. By small I mean less than 9% of the card's CL.

Reminder - STOP the quote insanity. If you must quote, delete the old quotes and just show the most recent quote to provide context continuity.
