How True is This??

I just checked all of my real FICOs, EQ is 80 points higher than EX and 46 points higher than TU.  I have gone through all 3 CR's and all are reporting the same information except the number of INQ's. Both TU and EX have much higher INQ's than EQ.  I applied for an auto loan in 5/2006 and the dealer sent my app to 19(!!!!!) different lenders who all did pulls within 3 days of each other.  The strange part is that none of those pulls were from EQ, I found this to be really odd but oh well.  So I have two questions,

1. How true is it that INQ's don't count against my score after 1 year?
2. Even if the INQ's are still counting since they are all for an auto loan don't I have a grace period to shop around, shouldn't they have all counted as just 1 for TU and 1 for EX or is this not fact.  If it is fact is there anyway to find out if all those INQ's are only counted as 1?

I can't see any other difference in my reports besides the INQ's, and I have been through the reports over and over again.

It is true that inquiries only count against you for one year and they fall off altogether after 2. It is also true that all inquiries for a auto and mortgage loans count as one inquiry if they happen within a two week period of eachother. It sounds as if maybe all the inquiries are counting against you. Others in here might be able to give you some insight as to how you can tell.

Re: How True is This??

It is possible that each CRA had different reporting dates for debt balances. Example. If I pay a bill, my payment shows on EX 5 days after paid. Shows up on TU 10 days after paid. And on EQ about 15 days after paid. This is not exact but used as an example. So even if you pulled all 3 on the same day you could have different debt balances on each one. That would give you 3 different scores. Also the types of inquiries at least on my CRs are scored differently. My EQ CR doesn't drop as much for inquiries as much as TU and EX drops the most. I have not tested this enough because points are lost for so long but you can see different scores across the board. Smiley Happy
