How bad are these inquiries??

Here's a listing of all the inquiries that shows on hubby's CRs (courtesy of TC):

EX:
AMEX (7/18/08)
CAP ONE (7/17/08)
BoA (7/15/08)
BoA Checking (7/17/08)
HSBC (7/4/08)

EQ:
AMEX (7/18/08)
CAP ONE (7/17/08)
BUDGET RENT-A-CAR (5/27/08)

TU:
AMEX (7/18/08)
CAP ONE (7/17/08)
ASSETCARE/CA (5/27/07)

How much will these affect hubby's scores?? Are these excessive? Or are they fairly par for the course??

Also, on another note, we have the TU and EQ alerts here at SW and have not gotten a SINGLE inquiry alert. Is that screwed up or WHAT??!!

So we have, really, no way of knowing how these inquiries will ding hubby's reports unless we actually BUY another FICO score for EQ and TU. Smiley Mad

It really depends on the lender. IMHO, TU is fine, EQ is so-so and EX not so good. Does your hubby have an Amex account? Why did Budget Rent-A-Car hard your hubby?

No, we were trying to see if he'd qualify (hoping they would NOY pull EQ) for the Delta SkyMiles AmEx. They pretty much declined him for the EQ score (his lowest).

Budget whacked us because hubby had to rent a car last May for a job interview in Georgia and used our Checkcard for it. I'm really not happy about that one. Budget did NOT tell us that they'd do an inquiry (though I guess we should have figured it).

Do you think his scores will drop because of these inquiries? I know that FICO says that they'll drop due to excessive, but would this BE excessive??

We've not applied for credit in AGES (as you can see from the inquiries I posted), so I have NO idea what's "excessive" and what's not!! Smiley Sad

I would check your scorewatch settings, working fine for me, had a credit check for my house last week and I was noticed within 24 hours.

Starting Score: EQ 679, TU 697
Current Score: EQ 680, TU 672
Goal Score: EQ 720, TU 720

With your Hubby's current scores, I would guess the hit would not be as bad someone with same number of inqs and scores over 720...but you never know. FICO scoring can be tricky as you probably already know.

Re: How bad are these inquiries??

Well, so far, according to EQ and TU, it's not the end of the world ... no points lost. But obviously, the ugly will be EX ... which is a cryin' shame since it was his second highest. Smiley Sad

Can I ask how many inquiries are seen as bad by lenders? I think the most we've got now is 5 on EX.

Also, this may be totally unrelated, really, but the FICO simulator says that once the new accounts open, our scores will go UP (on both EQ and TU) by about 40 points. Is this a REAL possibility? Or just BS? I could have sworn that the standard result of new credit accounts is a down-surge.

Thanks, fused, for all your help!! Smiley Happy
