While this is true to an extent, there are creditors who will make you fight for each and every new card, CLI, balance transfer or apr reduction if they think you're seeking too much credit.
One thing that really frustrates me though is that things like opening a bank account, getting a phone or getting internet count as hard inquiries. I'm looking at you, NFCU, Verizon Wireless and Comcast!
I agree. It is annoying that VW is a HP.

i have at least 10 are set to fall off my EX and TU by Aug of this year. Stupid car dealership had racked up most of it when I was car shopping last year.
I have the following HP inquiries:\
EQ - 0
EX - 1 (about 6 months old)
TU - 2 (Both are about a year old)
I have the highest number of inquiries on my TU report ( ~24) about 10 of them from car shopping. EQ has only 14. Don't know about EX.
I have 8. I think I'm done. There's no cards that I want. I do want Discover or Citi cards in the future. But right now I am happy with Chase and AMEX.

Wow, some of you have some serious totals! Do the CCC's just not regard that too highly or what?
I always read you should have 5 or less. I'm just getting into the credit building game (I have good credit, but want to boost my scores) so all my inq's are >1yr old but within 2 years I have 5 on EQ and 2 on the others. For some reason my auto loan beat up EQ with multiple pulls. At any rate, I feel like I need to go on an apping spree or something the way some of your totals are, haha!
