Re: How often do I get reports from Annual Credit Report?

Sub, to avoid CLDs for non-usage, you want your spending to "support" your limit. With some banks, it's not a big deal. You can support a fairly large AMEX limit with relatively little spending, for instance. Capital One has been lowering limits to $10,000 if people spend in the $100 a month range for about a year. And Synchrony has been lowering limits to $1,024 for very low usage.

So I keep this in mind as I ask for CLIs. AMEX is the only card where I ask for CLIs simply because I can. Still, I think $25,000 is more than enough for me. With my "main" Capital One card, I think $15,000 is a good number for my spending. I'm betting that my next CLI request will generate a $16,000 offer; that's fine too. I have two ancient Capital One cards with very low limits. I want to raise those limits to make the cards more useful, but I'll stop before $10,000 to hopefully stay off the CLD radar. $7,500 or so might be the sweet spot for those.

It seems fairly rare that we hear about AA from Discover. I don't think low usage is an issue when them. Heck, they've been known to give CLIs when cards have lain dormant. Smiley Happy
