Noticed while checking on one of my credit cards there were 2 small charges from paypal.
1 was for 2.37 and the other was for 1.00. (same day).
Called paypal first and they said one charge *2.37* was to a person (spanish sounding name) and the other was a donation to a family (spanish sounding name).
Advised from paypal card was compromised because it was added to paypal accounts which were being shut down as we spoke.
CSR stated it would take 10-14 days (maybe sooner) to be refunded and to notify credit issuer.
Called credit issuer and they stated once the refunds were made card would be shut down and reissued.
I have alerts set for anything over 10 bucks on my cards so if I wasn't always checking everything concerning my cards these could have easily slipped pass.
I figured the amounts were so small the fraudsters were testing whether they could get away with it and hit me with a BIG charge down the line.
I always carry zero balance on this card with a small automatic charge so any little thing will stick out like a sore thumb.
For the life of me I can't figure out how these fraudsters get your info. I don't store this card online and can't even remember the last time I had it on me outside.
In the almost 4 years I have only had 3 cards compromised out of 12. This is the second time for this particular card.
Glad checking my credit is a hobby of mine.
I know the feeling of unauthorized charges. Couple months ago I had it happened to my Nfcu Platinum Cc. I was notified by text from nfcu the charges was denied. I immediately called nfcu denied the charges and nfcu immediately closed the account and reissued a new Cc in 5 days.

@gingerflower It happened to my Disco a few months ago for a 150 charge and Disco immediately closed it and I received a replacement card the next day.
Also on my cred1 cards (year or so ago-charges made but denied) immediately closed and received new card after a few days.
This time since it was through paypal the time difference to closure will be different due to different procedures.
I noticed anything to do with PayPal accounts take awhile to be corrected. In any case hope all goes well for you.

I can't stress this enough. Check your accounts every day no matter what. This will only benefit you. And really, it is so easy these days there is really no excuse not to do it.

When someone throws enough doodookakapoopoo up against the wall eventually some of it will manage to stick. You may recall when someone managed to correctly guess a few years ago the sequencing used by Marvel cards and Synchrony ended up having to cancel and re-issue the portfolio using a new sequence when a number of cardholders had small fraudulent test charges appear on their accounts.
Kudos to you for being dligent with watching your accounts and nipping this one in the bud.
