I have 8 credit cards and would like to trim that down to 3-4 max. I have so many post BK fromm 5 years ago. 3 of the cards are less than a year old and the other 5 are around 4-5 years old. I am guessing I should close the younger accounts, correct? I have around $20K in total credit w/ about $8500 in utilization and these accounts won't do much in the way of dropping that total down. They also will all be paid off by August. Could I also cancel 1 or 2 of the older accounts too?

If you could why don't you list each card with it's
Date opened
Credit Limit
Balance
APR
Any annual fees
I think you'll get a more informed response with that information. Also here is an excellent thread about Closing Credit Cards that might answer some of your questions.
From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782
"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem".
Keep the oldest card opened. Close cards with an annual fee. Don't close anything until you have zero balances reporting on all your cards.
