Is there a credit union for me?

I have multiple questions as the year draws to a close so I'm going to try to split them up and get to the point with each:

Question #3 -  This is a two-in-one question: I'd really like to get in with a credit union that would be"good" to us but I don't qualify for the military ones. Is there such a credit union in Arkansas? Or for the military ones which have a "side-door", is there one that does not despise lots of inquiries and highish inquiries?

Filed Chapter 13 April 2012. Case successfully closed May 2017, about 1 month after 60th payment. FAKO scores on close date: TU 695 EQ 697. Received discharge July 11th - took forever! Real EX day of discharge 624.

Re: Is there a credit union for me?

there are loads of cu's that you can join simply by being a member of an orginization. some are free to jion others have a small donation associated with joining.

justice - nsa

agrculture - city dance

delta - getting ahead

just some examples.

as for part 2, just depends on your scores, income, and reports.

Do you know which of these would be concerned about high util and/or inquiries? Between DH and I, we've applied for about 10 new accounts this year and opened 7.

sorry. can't help on the uti/inq part. even cu's seem to be cautious these days.

Re: Is there a credit union for me?

If you are affiliated with a university, check to see if it has a CU. Otherwise, hit the Yellow Pages and find a local CU.

There are more local CU's than banks where I live (East Tennessee.)

Re: Is there a credit union for me?

Also, some credit unions participate in something called shared branching. This can be a pretty handy feature. Here's more information:

Re: Is there a credit union for me?

Also, just drive around on your way to or from work and you'll probably see more credit unions then you think.

I recently joined one, for a 5.09% APY on a checking account I use to save my house fund and once I heard about it, I noticed there were three credit unions in the county I worked at.

Additionally the one I joined, all I needed to do was pay $5.00 to join, and put $5.00 in the share savings account.  No other requirements.
