I have been looking online and I understand that I cannot have a paid judgement removed from my credit report (public record). What do I do to get the public record to show that the debt has been satified? Do I write to the credit agencies or what do I do?
Write to the judgment creditor and / or their attorney.
The vast majority of states have enacted legislation requiring judgment creditors to file a satisfaction of judgment with the court clerk within a certain time frame (often 14 days) once the judgment has been completely paid. There are sanctions available for those who do not, but you generally have to first write the judgment creditor and / or their attorney first and demand they file a satisfaction of judgment.
Make sure they give you an original, notarized copy as you can then use that when you contact the CRAs and ask them to update your credit report.
