Judgements

I have a question that one of you wonderful people may be able to answer.................

I had a judgement put on my credit report. The debt does belong to me, however I was never given the opportunity to give my say in court. I believe the amount of the debt is more than it should be. Is there any way that I can dispute this with the courts? Should I dispute with the OC?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Judgements

If you were not properly served then you may be able to file to have the judgment vacated.

I don't have much experience with judgments, search the boards for "properly served" or "vacate judgment"

Re: Judgements

Contact the court that is reporting the judgment. As a general rule, you have to file to get the judgment vacated, but the exact procedure varies from court to court. You may wish to engage a lawyer who routinely pleads in that court.
