Unless the spouse signed as responsible party they cannot. If the spouse did sign I believe they can only go after the spouse. Unless of course the patient agreed to payment upon release.

Anyway you can do an internet search concerning the HIPAA process. For various reasons we are not allowed to talk in detail about how all this works. But the information is out there. Good luck with this.

Hi G-ma, You have a medical collection with a CA (collection agency)?
I had several medical debts with CA's, I did not know about the HIPAA process when I was repairing my credit.
So I just used the PFD Letter and all of my CA;s were removed. Maybe I was just a Lucky gal, I dont know.
