Medical Collection

I posted Sunday about a $15 colection showing up on my report. I called the OC (hospital) and just paid the $15 amount so that it was settled. I did not pay anything to the collection agency, and have neither called or written them.

Should this account now be disputed as PAID, or shoudl I just wait to see what happens in the next 2 reporting cycles?

I am assuming that since the OC is paid and not the CA, I should eventually be able to get that removed from my report fairly easily? Or am I being naive here?

TIA.

Re: Medical Collection

Who's reporting it?  The CA or the OC?  If the CA, have you received any communication from the CA?  If yes and recently, dispute & DV w/in the 30 days.  Then dispute w/ CRAs.

Re: Medical Collection

the CA is reporting. I have received nothing from them.  Should I call/write them if to DV or dispute anyway? Or should I just go to the CRA and dispute there?

Re: Medical Collection

As per the other thread, this is why you should have gotten a PFD agreement before payment or arranged the HIPAA letter to go with the payment.   You don't want to dispute the CA as paid because you don't owe them and did not pay them.  You want to dispute as 'not mine' as they no longer figure into this.

Don't bother to DV since the CA was not trying to collect... this is most easily fixed by calling the OC and telling them to have the CA remove their info from your CBRs.  Follow that up with the HIPAA letter to the OC to ensure it is followed thru on, and go ahead and dispute the CA info on your CBRs now.
