@Jeffster1 wrote:Merrick is STILL not reporting to EQ. My last Merrick update to EQ is 6/1. It was my AZEO card with a $100 balance. It's at zero now, and one of my TDBank card is now my AZEO balance card. I do not want to close EQ until it's actually reporting zero across the board because I do not trust them to update on closing. I would rather not have to go through the hassle of disputing. I just want Merrick to do its job. I asked so little from it. Their attitude about failing to report (just like Mercury MCs...now corrected) is just to casual for my taste. I do not want to close this, and run the risk of it reporting as a $113 balance on a zero (closed) credit line. I might call them tomorrow again.
@Jeffster1 I definitely understand your frustration with merrick and your caution with Equifax. I made a mistake early in my rebuild hoping that Eq would easily straighten something out and it took quite some time to be resolved.
Hopefully merrick with get on the ball with whatever problem its having with Eq because it's now another month of waiting.
Thanks, and very true, @Iusedtolurk . I am pretty sure...just from my reading on here...that Merrick would probably turn down a request for goodwill from a customer over lates with the excuse, "We must report accurately," but, when the shoe is on the other foot (and they do not bother ensuring they report at all,) they suddenly feel they can do whatever they want. It's funny how so many subprime cards spare no effort in reminding you they are subprime.
UPDATE: I called Merrick today; remained on hold for 25 minutes and asked when they plan on fixing their EQ issue. The rep was very polite, and said that they are planning for it to be fixed with this month's statement. We shall see. My statement cuts on the 15th. As soon as the zero balance reports ro EQ, I'm calling to close it.

@Jeffster1 Well as of now it's still a NO GO on Merrick reporting for this month yet and my statement cut on the 14th. SMH
I just spent another frustrating hour with Merrick. Nobody there knows anything. I just filed a dispute. Once my account is updated with a correct zero balance, it's getting closed. No question.
@mfinsmi1 wrote:this is another downside of these subprime cards - another reason to add why i regret getting them. Their reporting is super delayed and/or inconsistant - i have merrick currently reporting 2 times the same account on my TU - at one point it was reporting a really old credit limit and balance - once i disputed the account instead of deleting it they just updated the balance to 0 and increased the credit limit. I dont have the energy to try to get the duplicate removed but hey at least its reporting 2 positive accounts ( a benefit maybe lol)
Dump them ..showing an old balance? dispute it
I received a very prompt reply from Merrick's Exec Offices...
"First, please accept my sincere apologies for the excessive delay in getting Equifax to update your MasterCard account information. As you know, we recently converted your Visa to a MasterCard account and provided that information to Equifax in June. We furnish customer account information to all three national credit reporting agencies. However, Equifax (and only Equifax) was unable to promptly process the file sent to them in June and only recently has been able to do so. As a consequence, they are behind in processing the regular updates and are actively working to correct this. We expect that will happen soon, and have been diligently monitoring this every day as they complete the incremental updates."
My Merrick account finally updated to EQ yesterday, 10/1.
Situation evidently resolved.
I am having the same problem.
I came to google with it and found your post.
Annoying because I have greatly paid down this card recently and they are still showing a high balance on my Equifax
Yes doing the same to me. Not reporting to EQ either, did report initially. Bozos cant get it right!
