Navy Federal Credit Score

I recently applied for an NFCU card and in the mail yesterday I recieved the credit notification of the score they used, etc and I noticed that they didn't use any major CB scores. The score I was given was a NFCU specific score. Does anyone have any experience with these scores and have any insight on how it's weighed? I'm not really sure what I'm looking at with this score.

Thanks a bunch! Smiley Happy

Hi @Marths ,

NFCU uses their own internal scoring, it is based on several things.

No one really know's the secret recipe. (well maybe the underwriter's)

Sorry, I could not be of more help.

@Marths     I agree with @M_Smart007   From everything I have read and everyone at NF I have spoken with even a lot of them are kept in the (unknown) about it....Best recommendation I can see is that they like lower/low UTL and LENGTH/relationship with them Smiley Very Happy

Re: Navy Federal Credit Score

Like others have said, NFCU doesn't advertise what goes into their internal score.

From many DP's they seem to like low DTI and length of history with them as @Girlzilla88  mentioned.

I agree DTI and length of relationship play a big part, but no one really knows the recipe as stated. I am surprised they didn’t pull a major bureau simultaneously.

They probably did pull a major bureau for the data, then applied their own algorithm to it for the score.

Re: Navy Federal Credit Score

A side note one of the NF agents mentioned was that they do really like 700 and above, if it's under 700 in the 600s it can be hit or miss depending on profile.   ^^

Don't think I've heard that.  That's good for DP's!

Re: Navy Federal Credit Score

@Mr_Mojo_Risin     I thought that was neat to know as well we had spoke in length after he mentioned the OOPS program they have and I was talking to him about doing a second card etc as far as what they look for and what they like/don't like....He pretty much said the same we all know as far as they do their own thing, internal scoring, that they don't even really know etc but he said 700 and up is a noticeble difference and likely easier approved and how the 600 range is hit or miss it really just digs down more to the profile and of course length with them because I told him I was curious about 650 vs 700 if that would make a difference at all or not?!      ^^
