New address affect on Opt-in?

I currently opted in to receive offers and I did so primarily for the SCT (Shopping Cart Trick) to work. I'm moving to a new residence in a few days, so my address will be changing. How does a the new address affect the Opt-in system? I assume that since I will be typing in a new address when trying the SCT, the system won't recognize the address for a match to me. Should I (or can I?) update my address in the Opt-in system? Thanks!

Re: New address affect on Opt-in?

If I'm not mistaken, the opt out/opt in system primarily goes by social security number, so credit companies will eventually catch up to your new address. If you want to receive more credit offers faster at your new place, you can update your address with the 3 credit bureaus: Equifax, TransUnion, & Experian. If they have your updated info, they'll report it to everyone else who checks credit to determined pre-selected offers.

I think this is correct thinking.  Eventually they would find where you are if they couldn't at first.  I think updating the address with the credit bureaus is a great idea.

Re: New address affect on Opt-in?

The opt in/out process permits or blocks the ability of a CRA to include your name and address on listings provided to potential creditors.

Creditors request listings by submitting a set of criterion to a CRA, and the CRA then provides the creditor with a listing of consumers who meet the specified criteria.

If your address is not corrrect, then being on any listing is superfluous, as their firm offer for credit will not be sent to your current address.

The opt-in process is a way to determine if you are currently meeting creditor requirments without any hard pulls, as the inquiry made by the creditor to obtain the listing is prohbiited under the FCRA from showing in any credit report pulled by others (i.e., it must be a "soft" inquiry).
