New here and need some advice. Think I made some mistakes already...

Hi everyone!

First, let me say how thankful I that I signed up for Score Watch and then found this message board! Great advice here.

Now, I jumped the gun before I signed up here and went crazy disputing my CR postings ONLINE. I read somewhere to dispute everything and to it online. Don't know where I saw it, but that ball started rolling and I can't stop it.

I have a lot of work to do; 7 bad accounts and 3 collections. Most are small, under $300.00 and some have a zero balance.. One large one from an apartment complex we lived in 3 years ago. I have 2 public records from a NJ County Clerk office for traffic violations years ago and I DID NOT dispute them. They were for 250 each and both were paid. I was thinking about sending a GW letter to the clerk's office and seeing what that would do.

The one I'm really worried about was a car loan back for 2000-2004 that had 3 30-day lates and 1 60-day late. I disputed that online and probably shouldn't have. Should I try to send a GW letter or wait for the results of the online dispute?

I guess I have the credit repair fever and need some consolation while waiting! Any thoughts on where I should go from here?

I'm starting this process with a 574 FICO from Equifax. Will pay for my TransUnion score next month.

Are you saying that you are disputing legitimate negative entries on your credit report?  That is, you are actually responsible for these late payment and collection accounts?

Unfortunately, yes. I had a family member give me some bad information and then I did a little internet searching on it and got more bad info. Some of the disputes were valid, such as an account from a gas company where I never lived and my name misspelled on one report. I would say half were valid disputes. So, how bad off am I? Is there any steps I could take to rectify the damage?
