First of all, this forum has been a life saver, it has really helped me get my ducks in a row. First off i pulled all 3 reports,
TU 598
EQ 582
EX 621
Whats killing me is 90% util on my credit cards and a couple of collections, plus a credit card account that my mother had that i was a authorized user on, that i didnt know about, that got charged off in '04. I wrote to the big three with several errors on my reports (incorrect employers, typos on past addresses, phone # etc) and i explained my situation on the charge off. I have written a few GW letters to Cap one about a few lates that occurred over a year ago.
I just got a letter back from TransUnion, here is part of it:
We have provided the information below in response to your request:
Re: Policy for reposting Credit Information.
TransUnion's Records do not allow the area code of your telephone number.
What does that mean? is the phone number the only thing they updated? What about the other items including the charge off on the account that wasnt mine? Do i need to contact the original creditor on that one in addition to the agencys?
Another big thing on my reports is a tow bill from a car that got impounded years ago, its about $1300. I would like to do a PFD on it but i dont have the full amount. Can i negotiate a payment plan along with the PFD or do i need to do it all at once? What percentage of the original amount can you go for in a PFD? Do i contact the original creditor or the collection company?
Another question i have is on closed by creditor CC accounts that are paid off but with negative histories. Is there any way to improve these with GWs or are they set in stone now?
My goal is a 660 or better by next March, I have a ARM ticking time bomb that goes off then, and i need to get myself in a better position before i go into refi. I have a perfect mortage and car payment history, and have been current on my Credit Cards for about a year. I have worked my budget out to where i can get by without adding to the CC balances, and knock about 3% of the principal off them a month. Am i on the right track? Any help on the above issues is appreciated.
