Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I am writing this because I don't see many up to date posts about this, but I had some luck with off cycle/mid cycle updates to the credit bureaus.
Tip: YOU ARE GOING TO APPLY FOR A MORTGAGE. MAKE SURE THEY BELIEVE THAT AND MAKE SURE YOU BELIEVE IT. SELL IT. YMMV
Discover: Easiest one. Just use the chat feature. Took a few days.
Chase: Automatic at 0 Balance.
Citi: I called and talked to front line people and supervisors 10-15 times. Consisted of a very large range of them just being ignorant of what I was saying or flat out rudely saying no. Simply call the Executive number and boom, she did it without a problem and it updated in less than 24 hours. Here is a direct line to one of their actual numbers: 605 357 2077 If that doesn't work, call the general one at: 605 331 1698
Cap One: They will say no up front. Call execs. Give them the spiel and they will say Yes. Just sell it. (YMMV, I am military and sold that as well)
Are you doing it just to do it or for some specific reason.
Instead of trying to “sell” anything and go thru all that? Simply plan bit ahead or wait couple of weeks.
If I was in military I wouldn’t risk dishonoring myself and my Branch for a mid-cycle credit report update.
Amex will do it as well if you call their credit bureau division.
Well Sir, since you have obviously come here to spread your wisdom in a condescending way, let me answer you. I am doing it because I am about to PCS and need to get a loan at a much better rate to help consolidate my wife's private student loans, and I paid all my balances down at literally the worst possible time for each card (trust me, I know I goofed). So I needed them to help me out so I could do it before I PCS this Friday and leave. But thank you for telling me I am dishonoring my branch simply because I said that I was military and leaving and needed to execute this before I left. And btw, everyone says they're asking for the update because of a mortgage. It is literally what everyone says to do and is the main thing the lenders will listen to. And as for the proper planning...life and financial struggles ruins proper planning. It happens.
*Ahem* Just dropping in with a reminder to keep comments FSR.
Thank you so much for sharing this because you saw others had not and saw the value. I am applying for a mortgage this week and running around trying to ensure everything is a smooth as possible. I am so grateful to you for sharing this information, the phone contact at CITI bank alone is worth a pound of gold. Thank you sir!

Thanks for the info! I called Citi at the number you provided, and they updated my credit utilization within 24 hrs.
