Hey guys,
Filed BK7 just over 5 years ago. At the time, I had an open car lease that I was about halfway through. Although I continued to pay the lease on time through the end, it has always showed up on my credit reports as IIB, and is flagged negatively. It does not show any payments past the month I filed BK in, which was March 2014, though I paid on time until the end of the lease in July 2015.
About a year after my BK, sometime in late 2015, I disputed this account with all 3 credit bureaus. TU removed the account entirely, but the rest of the credit bureaus kept it with the negative comments.
I have had a great rebuild in the last 5 years...with 2 other car leases, a personal loan, and decent credit cards with good limits - all with perfect repayment history. This is the only negative item that shows up. It's frustrating that an account I paid in full and never paid late is showing as negative.
I don't recall exactly how I disputed the account back in 2015 when TU removed it. I don't remember which reason I selected, but I do recall writing in the comments that the account was paid in full and never late. I would like to try again to dispute/remove it from the other two CRAs.
Any advice as to how exactly I should go about doing this? Any chance of it dropping off/being updated/removed early??
Thanks in advance!
the fact that it was deleted from your TU report does not mean that TU did the deletion based on a finding in their reinvestigation of your dispute. It could also have been voluntarily deleted by the creditor after you filed the dispute, which then dismissed the dispute without a finding.
Creditors will often, upon filing of a dispute, decide to volutarily delete with one or more CRAs, and only verify with one or two.
REmoval s thus not per se evidence of a finding by the CRA that the information required deletion as unverifiable.
Did you ever receive a formal Notice of Results of Reinvestigation from TU, stating that they deleted as a finding in the dispute?
If not, then deletion may not have been a finding of the CRA, but rather a voluntary action by the creditor.
What was the basis for your prior dispute?
Is it still basis for a current dispute?
The fact that it was deleted from other CRAs would not establish any basis for asserting inaccuracy of its showing with the third CRA.
You would need to show some actual inaccuracy......
If it was in fact paid off and closed prior to your BK I would use a direct dispute with the lender to get it corrected or removed.
