PFD queston

Hi everyone, if I send out a check with a letter stating "cashing this check is an agreement that you will remove this collection from my credit report", will that work?  It is a medical bill and I would like it removed from my credit report.  Any advice would be great.  Thank you in advance.

Wow, thank you so much.  I've read through these boards constantly for 2 months and I must have missed that one.  Thank you again! Smiley Happy

Re: PFD queston

This will not work if the company has a customer agreement that states this is not an option.  Some do, some don't.  Many companies are smart enough not to allow this to happen so just be wary of sending the check because they will be able to cash that check if you send it in.  Just be careful, and make sure that you fully research this before taking the jump.  Hope that helps.

This is why you don't send a dime until you have something in writing on company letterhead that states they will delete.

I guess I fail to see a connection between RE and a customer agreement. The statutes and caselaw concerning RE from the state in question would apply.
