Please Help!!! Score drope 51pts.

I just checked my FICO score today only to find that is has dropped by 51pts!!! Upon further investigations, I find that the score dropped due to a recent late payment. THERE WERE NO RECENT LATE PAYMENTS!!! I checked my Equifax report and it was exactly the same as last month and I am CURRENT ON ALL 3 CREDIT CARDS I HAVE!! I don't understand what is happening here!! Its like Im in a BAD dream and I cannot wake up!!  Not to mention the so called "score watch" did not even alert me with this HUGE drop, even though it should have because it lowered me into another category all together....

Go through your report line by line.  Do you have any charge off or collection accounts? If so check the updated dates carefully.

No. I have nothing... I compared this report with the last two months and nothing has changed...

Have any of the positive or negative items changed on pages 2 or 3 of your FICO reports?

Along the same lines as Susyquk, re-look at all of your baddies, including CAs. Make sure none of these accounts show any date for August of 2009. This would include Date assigned, date reported, date opened, and date last active.

Re: Please Help!!! Score drope 51pts.

The higher your score, the more you will be affected by inquiries, lates, judgements, etc. FICO's goal is to get everyone as close to the average FICO score as possible - whatever the current aveerage is. 690? 720?.

Either your current scores are quite high - hence the big hit, or you have a new judjement - or two reporting.

Re: Please Help!!! Score dropped 51pts.

Seems as though First Premier (cc account I closed in October 2006) has updated my DOLA as recent as August 2009.  This cc never went into collections, although I had one late payment. I paid the cc off and closed the account. For years it has been reporting as "Paid or Paid as Agreed", now it reports in the current status as "Currently 30 days past due". This is not correct. Is this legal? What should be my next move? Please help, I was planning on purchasing a home next month, now I can't until I get this corrected.

Re: Please Help!!! Score dropped 51pts.

I will defer to those who can tell you what to do, but as a general note to anyone applying for mortgages: freeze your reports!!!!!

The CRA's sell lists of those who are applying for mortgages to collection agencies and other fun folks, who then try to see if they can get some leverage to coerce payment. And this is perfectly legal. If you've ever had any problems in the past, especially where it might be difficult to prove that you paid your debt, you are vulnerable.

I don't know that this is what's happening with OP, but keep it in mind.

Re: Please Help!!! Score dropped 51pts.

Is the account reporting a balance that was not reported before? Call First Premier and ask them why account number is  reporting as 30 days late that was closed in 2006?

How do you freeze? Is this the same as opting out?

Re: Please Help!!! Score dropped 51pts.

It is not posting a new balance. It reads "Currently 30 days past due". Balance owed: "0", Past due amount: "0". I called First Premier and spoke with Angela, she stated that it "looks like my account has been mistaken for someone elses", she suggested that I send a dispute letter to all three credit bureaus. I asked her why she could not fix it on her end, since First Premier was responsible for the incorrect post. Needless to say her "help" was useless. I went to PFB and posted a dispute letter to the company, but I have yet to receive a reply. Does anyone know a better contact for First Premier as I don't think I will get anywhere with a regular customer rep.
