@AnonymousI have had two alerts from Experian (not for what your was) but, one dealt with a bank that reported a balance after statement cut and the alert said I had a reactivation of a dormant account (no dormant account on the credit report) and it turned out to be the first time the bank had ever reported a balance. The second alert was that someone stole my telephone number with my telephone number listed publicly so, stealing the number does not make sense and Experian did not suggest taking action.
While these two incidents have happened over the last five months I have to say I wonder? Contacted the supposed dormant bank and we ran every thing and my account was spot on and they saw no fraud!
Go figure?
Take most of Experian's alerts with a grain of salt. As @Dinosaur said, sometimes the alerts are pretty generic. Having a credit card report a balance after PIF for awhile triggers a Reactivation of Dormant Account alert. Sometimes if you do a change of address, change of name, changing an individual account to joint account, etc. it can trigger the New Bank Account alert. Banks don't have a pending period for bank accounts to show to them. So if the bank verified everything is fine and there is only one account, then you should have nothing to worry about.

So I got an Experian alert today “we found a new bank account matching your personal info.” Now my account has been frozen for years. Still this account alert refers to a lender with whom I have an existing account. Also the same lender just closed a checking account a month ago (remember this).
Bottom line: I didn’t open any accounts. I called the bank (one of big 5) today and using my SS they confirmed that I have only 1 account open. They also confirmed my recently closed checking account. So the bank seems to think that this was a false alert. I’d like to think so but I wanted to get your opinion.
Can an account be in the que and therefore not be visible for some of my bank reps?
Does this alert refer to the checking account that was recently closed?
Thanks all
I got alerts for both opening and closing checking accounts from Experian as recently as April
This happened with both Chase and US Bank. EX does monitor banking information. My last alert came a few days after opening checking account, two I believe.
I even posted about it because that was not something I expected to see monitored by EX.
