I had Privacy Guard for awhile before signing up on here. Even while waiting for your monthly "free" pull, you can have access to the updated alerts. IIRC, you just need to login, verify into the credit center, and look at your alerts and/or look at the old report, pull up the alerts tab and it will have the most current alerts, albeit on the old report.
As far as MyFico goes, I have never been able to access the product or purchase until the email verification comes through stating so. If you had a screenshot of the error, maybe we could be a bit more helpful.
