I was using lastpass but recently I have been switching to iCloud Keychain when I reset a pw....
All of the previous list have been helpful!
Especially bookmarking websites! I see that some website are so close to what I'm trying to search for and I know that's how some people get hacked.
I am also usually very diligent on checking web addresses and phone numbers when dealing with sensitive information... I 99.95% never click on links and try to call or go to the secured website.
Unfortunately, my significant other isn't as careful. The website that we think the hacker got info from is actually our mortgage company. Their website isn't secured but supposedly their account log in is secured?? Idk we immediately called them after we tried to set up payment and told them it didn't look right. I don't trust it either way now and we're calling in to payments for now.
I ended up creating my SO a new email that is only to be used for more sensitive emails. I'm in the process of trying to get him to use iCloud Keychain/ Lastpass / 2-step Authenticator. Trying to get him to understand that he shouldn't use the same password variation that he's been using for 20 years and that he should use a different email service. Honestly, he's super lucky that he hasn't something super crazy happen. His instagram is still hacked and they still haven't shut it down... and the hacker actually scammed someone he knows out of 300.
We both have our credit locked and fraud alerts on.
Ive had a few issues with TransUnion and I'm not sure if that's because of the freeze/locks / fraud alerts.
My voice ID for NFCU has been disabled 2x not by me. They said it happened because of closing and opening of accounts... so getting random alerts like that has had my anxiety soaring. Every alert from TU, EX, & EQ is nerve racking. I've been constantly calling about each alert and verifying.
I'm also glad I get those alerts because at least I can act quickly if something is not right.
Ive done a hard reset on all of our electronics hoping that it would help.
We recently switched from Verizon to AT&T and I feel like we're getting a lot more spam text/calls. My significant other also isn't able to verify his phone number with a few different apps because he sometimes doesn't receive the verification codes. I've read somewhere that when you switch providers that can happen.
I've learned a lot the past few months.
What email service provider do y'all feel like is the most secured?
What password keepers are most secured?
I'm still looking at more security for email/pw.
Getting hacked has really made me want to burn all the electronics, close all email & finance accounts, and start over.
