It's a charge off from a bank, a small credit card
They apparently sold the account to a debt collection company
Both the bank and collection company are showing on the credit report
Bank shows last report date of May 2020
Collection company shows last report date of Aug. 2022
Is this legal? If not, what violation is this within the FCRA?

Yepper. If theres a balance on the banks end. CA is collecting on their behalf. If the bank has $0 balance. The CA owns it. Its allowed. We tell many to settle CO's before it hits your reports with a CA and reports. Then goes more points and more headaches. Try your best to settle the CO. No longer will it update each month. Then die a slow death.
It will fall off from the first late date on your reports that led to the CO status. 30/60/90/120/CO Closed.
Ok
But if the bank charged it off and now the collection agency owns it, then how would i be settling it with the bank?
Wouldn't my only choice now be to pay the collection agency?
Yes. Basically the bank got paid and they moved on. Its time to make a deal with the CA. Who is the CA? There's some CA's that will delete themselves once settled.
National Credit Adjusters out of Kansas
Im going to go for a pay for delete, but a long time ago i had an account with them and they refused to delete for payment, it was just 95 bucks put on by an apartment complex lying saying i put a small hole in a door.
Also, if they do accept pay for delete, does that also mean i can request for the banks entry to be deleted as well? it's the bank of missouri
Does the bank show a balance?
I spoke with nca today, they said they don't do pay for deletion, but they also told me that this particular account has been outsourced to another company by the name of halsted
i won't be able to speak with halsted until tomorrow
on the report though, it shows the bank with a zero balance on 2 of the bureaus, one of the bureaus it's showing a high balance amount
and of course under nca showing on the report, it shows that same high balance amount
it says charged off under the bank entry
Well they sold it. On Halsteads site it says:
"After your account is resolved with us, Halsted Financial Services, LLC will notify the current creditor that you have resolved your debt."
Nothing about PFD. Best you can do is work out an affordable plan and get it in the past. Paid is always better than owed. We tried.

Yeh, Ill just pay it, then dispute it until they get tired of the disputes
Ok thank you for your help
Hello, I'm not sure if you can help me or not, I posted a question similiar to this one about double reporting on the general topic thread.
I was wondering if you could give me any input on it.
