Question about response on DV Letter

I sent DV letters to two CA. Today I received a letter back from both of them and all that was in the envelopes was a copy of a hospital bill. There was no proof that I owe these CA a debt, no proof that they are licensed to collect in my state, etc. Where do I go from here? Not sure what to do now.

Re: Question about response on DV Letter

I am in Indiana. The forms the two CA sent back for DV don't even have a patient signature or doctor signature. Where it says patient signature they typed in "signature on file" and where the doctor's signature should be they just typed in a doctor's name. Also, I had asked on the DV letter that they show proof that they are licensed to collect in my state and that they show proof that they own the debt. Neither was provided.

Look 'em up to see if they are licensed as a CA in Indiana.

Noah
I tried that but you have to have their registration number.

Re: Question about response on DV Letter

Scan all the letters they've sent you for a number. Did you try just the name?

Or try the All Firms search with just the name.

Re: Question about response on DV Letter

Get this! I just got an alert from TC and one of these CA just placed another major derogatory on my EX report. I didn't think they were allowed to do anything while this was in dispute. It is clearly listed on my report that I am disputing this.

Re: Question about response on DV Letter

If you DVed and they responded, then they've a minimal definition at least for validation. Whether it is sufficient would be up to the District and Circuit courts.

If you cannot find them searching the SOS website, call the Indiana SOS and ask whether this CA is licensed in Indiana. Tell them you searching the SOS website, but you couldn't look them up.
If they cannot find them as licensed or bonded in Indiana, see if they will mail or fax you something stating this company is not licensed as a CA in Indiana. If you don't have a fax machine, call a local UPS Store or Fedex Kinkos or some similar place that has a fax where you can receive stuff.
