Question about what I found out after talking to a Medical collection office manager

I have a collection that shows a date of 2004 when it was turned over to collection. but there are 3 collections within the one collection from the same doctor. I was told that the CA combined the collections from one doctors account. basically i have a del from 97,2000, then another in 2004, and thats when it was turned over to the CA. They wont remove the paid collection, it not in their policy. so am i stuck by the last year of that account showing 2004, or can i sent copies of the statements from the doctors office that show some of the charges within the collection are over 6-7 years old.

The CA told me they stopped doing the accounts that way about a month ago. so i have several from one doctor that the accounts on my 4 kids have different years of dol, with all of them showing the most recent year as the dol that were sent to CA.

Re: Question about what I found out after talking to a Medical collection office manager

It is illegal for a CA to combind debts!  Each account has it's own DOFD (medical is date of service).

get the info from the Doctor with the dates and force the CA to make corrections.

Use the HIPAA process to have the paid collections deleted.  Always opt-out with the CRAs when you have ANY COLLECTIONS.

Hand write the medical dispute letters.

Re: Question about what I found out after talking to a Medical collection office manager

Thanks

I opted out a few days ago. Thanks for that advice. And I am making copies of the actual statements i recieved from the doctors office. The CA said that it was ok to combine the charges because even though i didnt pay in 1997,2000,and 2004 it was still the same account number. So the charges were combined, thus making the collections appear as 2004. My understanding fromt he Doctors Billing Office was that the doctors just recently choose in 06 to turn any up paid debts over to collection. So instead of the collections being turned over after 120 days, they held them in house, then turned them over in 06 when they changed their billing practices.

I just want to make sure i am not wasting my time, if it is ok to send an account that i didnt pay the doctor for services in 1997, then again in 2000, then again in 2004, so they sent the entire account to collection and used the 2004 and the date of deliquency.
