Re: RAMDOM THOUGHT

I am so there with you mjbfan.  My INQ count is ridiculous: TU=26, EX=18, EQ=45

I just added American Eagle & JCPenney a month ago, and then last week I got Sam's Club ($1200 CL...my highest - woohoo!!) and an Ebay Mastercard. DH got Lowe's and Amazon store card last week.  We have A LOT of cards now, and I think know we have plenty of good TLs to 'garden' and let age.  Many of them are w/GEMB, so we just need to keep getting those CLIs every 4 months rather than opening any new cards.

We want to refi our ARM next year, so we do have a goal. It's just sooo tempting to apply when you're reading all those posts about how easily some got approved, and the high CLs they're getting!

A lot of these INQs (about 10-12 on each CR) are from car shopping last October, so though they don't fall off, they won't factor into my scores anymore.  I sure wish they'd fall off completely after one year instead of two.

Re: RAMDOM THOUGHT

So...what is an acceptable number of inquiries that can show up on your report before it's considered too many?

Re: RAMDOM THOUGHT

I don't know, but I have between 4 and 8 on my CRs and I was worried.

So good question, what IS an OK number of inqs?

Re: RAMDOM THOUGHT

Yowsa.  I was worried about having 2 because it advised me that those with the best credit had none or 1 inquiry on their report.

Whoa.

You're saying 1.5 is optimal? Smiley Wink

I am in this same position. Staying away from the CC forum and just studying, working with what I have and paying off old debts!
