Remove Credit Inquiry

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this.  It is my understanding that an Inquiry is the hardest thing in the world to get removed.  But in my case, I don't want it removed to hide the fact I applied for credit, here is the situation

I applied for an account with Cominty.  At the time I thought it only pulled one report, Equifax.  So I unfroze my Equifax report, they pulled Equifax.

About 10 days later, I get a denial letter.  Not because of anything in my report, but because they could not pull my Experian report due to being frozen, and that I would have to wait 30 days to re-apply with an unforzen report.

So in this case, I was denied credit due to a frozen report, not due to informaiton ubtained from the report.

So how do I remove the Equifax inquiry; seeing the application process could not be completed due to a frozen report?  Who do I contact, and how to I word the request.  Frozen reports are a common thing of this new age, so I know this is not the first time someone else had this problem?

Re: Remove Credit Inquiry

Lenders could pull one, two, or all three of your reports. In this case it looks like they tried to pull two and one was iced. That's not grounds for removal.

Re: Remove Credit Inquiry

You can't . You applied and Comenity wanted to pull 2 reports but could only view one. That is certainly not grounds to have it removed .

Re: Remove Credit Inquiry

That is what I was afraid of, but  is there any good will letter or request I could do for this?

I suppose you could try, but I don't think I've ever seen/heard of a GW removal of an inquiry.

I would just let it go.   You have great scores and one inquiry is only going to ding you a few points for one year.   You can ask but I don't it's a very persuasive argument.   Good luck.

Right, and a variety of individuals freeze them for security reasons/fraud, to control applications/temptation, etc. But, when applying for credit, one needs to be reasonably aware that any given CRA can be accessed by a lender, regardless what may be mentioned on the webz. So, it's always a good practice to have things thawed with all 3 before you apply. And, it's a simple re-lock or re-freeze once things are done.

Another item to keep in mind, not all lenders have similar UW policies when it comes to inaccessible or frozen CRs. Some can send a notification (e.g. email, text, call) to unfreeze before proceeding with an application while others will auto-decline the application with no reconsideration recourse.
