Since I've been back in the credit game as of Aug 2020, I've watched my big three credit profiles daily. I noted in the beginning that there were some old addresses that aren't mine. I though it was odd and might have explained why my TU was completely locked down/frozen. After finally proving to them who I was, I gained access to my TU and was able to clean up personal info, etc. Otherwise, the report was devoid of ANY credit reporting at all. All three reports were like this, in fact. Kind of nice to work from a clean slate like that, let me tell you! EX was equally as easy to clean up personal info, have addresses removed, etc.
Now, Equifax has been a different story. In the last 25 years, I've lived at two addresses. I'm fine with both of those being on my reports as they are accurate. However, there were three erroneous addresses. One PO box and two street addresses. I have disputed them numerous times with EQ online and each time the dispute ends in them stating the "ADDRESS HAS BEEN REMOVED" for all three of them. Despite this, the addresses have remained on my report. I want to make the distinction that they never actually deleted. They stayed. They did not remove and then report again. They just stayed on the report. I did this maybe 4 times, trying different reasons and got the same results each time. I tried disputing them via mail twice. Each time, the result was "ADDRESS HAS BEEN DELETED" but they remain.
I finally got fed up and spent a day calling various EQ phone numbers over and over and over again until I finally found one that got me to a live person, skipping that dreadful verification thing that rarely works for me. Anyway, I spoke with the CSR at length and explained that the addresses keep reporting even after they state they've been deleted. The CSR started a new dispute and apparently did it in some other way than I had been doing. He told me that it could take up to 30 days for results. During that time, one address was actually removed. The PO box address is now gone. The two street addresses remain. For now.
So, my question is....how does one get these addresses permanently removed with EQ?
It's a bit maddening to see them state that they've been removed only to see them still reporting. I guess it doesn't matter, but I would really like them gone since I've never lived or accepted any correspondence at any of those addresses. Thanks everyone.
Are you able to connect any of those addresses to you through someone else?
I've got multiple addresses on my CR that connects me to an ex. We had a joint account together a decade ago and previous addresses of hers (that she hadn't lived at in years) ended up on my CR. It's been a long time, the joint account isn't even open and yet on all CRAs I've got several of her addresses listed. It's always irritated me a bit that they're on there, but I've never taken any steps to attempt to have them removed.

Not at all. They are completely unrelated to me in any way that I am aware of. I have no idea how or why they are on my reports. EX and TU actually removed them immediately. EQ says they're removed, but they remain. I did get ONE of the three removed from EQ after speaking with one of their CSR's. I guess I will have to be persistent and pester them until they're gone.
Yeah I would just keep hammering away at it.
Are you able to get anything in writing from them that states they have been removed? If so, I'd send that document along with a letter stating they haven't done what they've said they'll do to them constantly until you're satisfied.

Yes, I've done exactly that. They have sent it to me in writing that the addresses were deleted. And I've resent complaints with copies of those written documents, with the items in question highlighted. The end result of their subsequent investigation is "ADDRESS REMOVED" yet it's still there!!! EQ is a mess. I'll just keep on them. I am very good at being persistent. :-)
I had the same thing happen with EQ. An unknown address from another state that I never lived in. Even checked with relatives but no one from my family in Maryland. I even Google street view'd the address and didn't recognise it. I asked EQ to have it removed twice over a 2 year period and got the same reply you did. Still there.
Ironically, I noticed it a couple years ago after they had their data breech.
I have the same issue with EQ with one address. I gave up for about a year or so and last December decided to try again and to this day I'm still waiting on a response from my online dispute.
I feel your pain ... Goodluck to you !
Light a fire unde Equifax and file a CFPB complaint.
Equifax has stated they removed dh's and my info. a few times too. Finally submitted another dispute(s) and I added a rather ugly personal stmt. (comments) to our cr's stating Equifax has erroneous info. on our reports, refuse to remove through disputes and to call phone number xxx-xxxx if in doubt.
I think I hit a nerve, the info. is finally gone off of both cr's. Since then I reworded our comments but left the gist of it there.
You need to find out which creditor(s) you have is reporting that address and fix it there. You can keep disputing this over and over Equifax will remove it and as soon as the creditor reports it again it will come back.
