Sending out first PFD...

on a $50 item tomorrow.  I have read that some have sent regular mail and some have sent with return receipts.  Which is best?

Also, I am assuming "Certified Funds" means a cashier check?

Did you get it in writing that it would be deleted upon payment?

Cashier's check is certified funds.

I suppose I should have explained myself better.  I am sending out my first PFD letter tomorrow.  It is for a $50 item in collections.  Just wondering if I should send the letter return receipt or not.  Thanks.

Do NOT send any form of check until you have an agreement from the creditor on their letterhead signed by them that they will delete this first. Other wise, they will take your money and post it as paid once you have finished paying what you owe.

Maybe I am confused and you have received an agreement from them?

Nope, not sending money yet.  Just the letter.  I was asking the "Certified Funds" question to make sure that if they respond positively, I send them the right type of payment.  I did not want to send a money order if they were expecting a cashiers check.

They should have no problem accepting a money order.

Since no dire need to track it, regular mail is ok, IMO.
