Started the process and have some questions

After spending some time reading through the threads on this forum, I've finally started working on my credit. I'm using TC for now to keep an eye on things. My FAKOs are TU 623 EX 538 EQ 588. I plan on pulling my FICOs once I've made a little progress.

This is what I've done so far.
1) I've disputed one collection that isn't mine with EX and am sending a dispute to the CA tomorrow.
2) I disputed an incorrect balance on a loan with TU. Should I wait to see if it's fixed or go ahead and send a letter to the loan people asking for it to be fixed? The loan is paid off as of last month.
3) I disputed an incorrect balance on another loan with EQ. The loan is also paid off. Again, should I wait to see if it's fixed or send a letter?
4) I'm planning on sending PFD to 3 medical collections tomorrow. I can't afford to PIF all three so I'm offering 2 a settlement amount and paying the smallest one ($50) in full. What is the usual offer? 50% of what is owed? More? Less?

One more thing. If your name is incorrect in your personal information, can you dispute it? If so, does that mean any derogatory listed under than name will drop off?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Anything on your credit report that is inaccuarte can be disputed. This includes anmes, personal inforamtion, employers, inquiries, etc. As afr as paying off in full any collections you will need to call each one of them. They may or may not have it removed from your credit reports. You will need to send in a dispute with all three credit bureaus if all three are being reported to.

Experian Credit Bureau
PO Box 1240
Allen, TX   75013-1240

Equifax Credit Bureau
PO Box 105518
Atlanta, GA     30348-5518

Transunion Credit Bureau
PO Box 2000
Chester, PA   19022-2000

Get a tracking number so you can track online via www.usps.com (us mail) when the credit bureaus receievd your disputes. They ahve 30 days from then to update the reports.

1)   You dispute with the CRAs      send DV to CA

2)   wait to see if it is corrected

3)   wait

4)  what is the SOL on these?   even a dispute could cause a lawsuit.  Only start with 1 PFD....that way if you need to pay more then you wanted you will have the money.

disputed personal info.  I had no trouble BUT I had NO accounts with that name or address....IF the CRA wants  they will ask for complete ID from you  before doing anything!

Re: Started the process and have some questions

I think I will move to NC    SOL 3 years  Love it!

DV all CAs     CMRRR

see if any onf them respond. they must answer DV withIN 30 days or stop reporting.

IF the DV for medical respond    pick 1 & send a PFD   wait for answer & then go to the next one.......this way you know what you can afford to pay at 1 time.
