I filed for Bankruptcy in August 2001 and I have disputed this on my credit report - cant i have this taken off my credit report now? I have tried to contact the courts and they say they cannot do anything about it. Trying to start over again and get my credit score to a better status. Any suggestions?

Hello to you and welcome to the forums.
Was this a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 BK?
Chapter 7 remains for 10 years and Chapter 13 remains for seven years from the filing date.
From a BK years ago to:
7/09 TU-742 EQ- 779
8/09 TU-765 EQ- 783
9/09 EX pulled by lender 802
You can do the same thing with hard work.
It was a Chapter 7 and I have been told that it would be dropped automatically but I filed in 2000 and discharged in 2001 but it is still showing on my credit report. I just want this off as I have paid my time and dues since filing.

What month in 2000? I know mine dropped off as promised right on time. But that was back in the dark ages.
I was discharged in Nov. 2001 and I am waiting patiently for this to happen. Trying so hard to get my credit score up higher.

Hi Nanny!
First, what's the basis for your disputes? A Chapter 7 Bankruptcy stays on your credit reports for ten years from the date of filing. With the August 2001 date in mind, you can expect the public record to drop by September of 2011.
Have you incurred any other baddies within the last 7.5 years that are reporting? If not, and the only negative mark is the BK you'll still be able to start building credit.
