The very first card I applied for was Barclay Mastercard Rewards. Just minutes before applying I checked my TU scores and it was at 722.
After applying at a few places scores dropped to 715. This is where I am at now. That much I understand.
However today when I received my Barclay card with TU scores it showed their TU score at 731 at the time they approved my application online.
How can this be?
My TU score was fulled on Equifax.com as part of a 3 bureau report and 3 scores format.

Problem solved FAKO
There are a bunch of scoring models out there. The ones not from Fair Isaac (FICO) are called FAKOs.
Even if your scores are all FICOs, they may not be comparable, because there are multiple models, because the three reports have varying information, and because your scores can vary from day to day.

Im ready for some education. When are scores not FAKOS?
On equifax and the mailing I received
BOTH said Transunion. On the equifax site EQ, EXP, and TU scores are different from each other.
Class in session Lol
EX, EQ,TU sites will not sell you real Fico scores
They can be obtained here tho
All those site sell a different version Example TU is a vantage score
FAKO=Fake score
Also there's 49 different scoring models
Any time they say it's "your credit score" but doesn't mention the word "FICO" anywhere, its FAKO.
If it were FICO, they would make sure to advertise that fact.
As far as I am aware, each credit agency gives a score for another agency by fitting your data in a model that they think another agency is using but it is not the exact model (like in your case Equifax will give you the TU score based by fitting your data to a model that they think ressembles TU but it is not TU, and that causes variation).
Thanks everyone.. I was aware of the FAKO scores currently offered on creditkarma and a boatloat other places. I typically buy my scores from myfico but for some reason I ended up at EQ site last week. I think it had to do with EQ offering complete credit monitoring for $19.95 a month which includes UNLIMITED updates of EQ score watch and the 3 bureau reports. I had just unlocked all three of my credit reports after paying $5 for each unlock and the $19.95 per month looked like a great deal.
I also noticed that on the EQ site they offer the following products but didn't think much of it ( got tricked? ):
1) Regular EQ scores/reports -- $14.99
2) All three scores/3 reports -- $29.95
3: FICO score power -- $19.95
Thank you USwalla.. I was just going to ask that question and you answered it. Seems like I got confused and "assumed" that TU scores belonged to TU and EX belonged to EX. Turns out it's just EQ's opinion of what TU and EX scores were. This is very misleading and I see experian.com and transunion.com offering the same thing.
I'm going to cancel the EQ complete monitoring "solution" before rebilling kicks in.
Okay... now plz help me answer this. On Equifax site the third option says FICO score power. Would this be considered the EQ FICO score?
This is what hooked me into paying for the EQUIFAX scores.
>>>>You may be eligible for your 3 Bureau Credit Report and Scores for $19.95 – a 50% discount from our retail price of $39.95. Click here to order>>>
I find this quite misleading.
I also find inconsistencies and obfuscations with the use of FICO to refer to FICO scores. When I received my Barclay welcome package today there was a TU score attached. The letter did not state the score was a TU FICO score. So is it FICO or not?
However the welcome letter from AMEX states credit scores were provided by EXPERIAN FICO.
Now when you consider that Walmart-Barcla- Discover effective this month will be offering FREE Credit scores from TU printed on every customer's statement is the average Joe consumer to think these scores are FICO TU scores or just TU scores?
