I received a strange letter in the mail that I was hoping someone could help me with. It is some type of bankruptcy thing. I have never filed for bankruptcy, and have excellent credit so I do not know why I got this in the mail. Its not even really a letter it just gives 16 pages of debtors, case numbers and Tax id's. There is no phone number or email for me to contact. It came from General Growth Properties c/o Kurtzmna Carson Consultants in Tennessee. Does anyone know what this is? Its freaking me out b/c it is making me think someone took my SS#. HELP!
As another poster noted, General Growth Properties is a shopping mall developer that recently went bankrupt. It is possible that you may have appeared on some list of potential creditors and are getting this information in case you want to file a claim. For example, some years ago a furniture store from whom I had purchased a sofa went bankrupt and I got several notices from the Court in case this store owed me some money. Fortunately, my wife and I already had the sofa in question (in fact right now our cat is sleeping on that particular sofa).
