I stumbled upon this board about a year ago and it offered great advice, so here goes:
I have a student loan from Chase which they just reported to the three bureaus as "60 days past due". Over the past year and a half I rebuilt my credit, going as high as a 739 on Equifax's Score Power. Last night I recived an alert regarding the 60 days past due, dropping my score 106 points to a 633. This is the only negative on the report in literally 5 years.
During this time, I was in the process of receiving a deferment on the payments, and I have still not heard back, even though all the paperwork is in their hands. While the deferment is being processed, they sent the 60 days notice to the bureaus anyway. After speaking with a somewhat rude representaive today, she told me to write a letter regarding the removal of this item etc...I can pay back the amount owed, but my true concern is the reporting of this negative item.
Questions are:
Has anyone dealt with Chase and may be familiar with their Student Loan Dept?
What are my options, if any?
Can I, and how, can I bring my score(s) back up in light of this? Are there any actions that I can take ASAP?
Any help is appreciated!
