Synchrony incorrect reporting?

I applied for a Lowe’s card at the beginning of the month and they gave me a $537 SL. I figured it would grow, so whatever. Today I got an alert that my card was reported to TransUnion as being over the limit. I did nearly max out the card, but did not go over, and I already paid it off in full, but they reported before I paid. When I signed in to check, the alert shows Sync reported my limit as $500, not $537, which is why it says I’m over with a charge of $524. I double checked my account (which still shows the $537 limit) and then called the number on my card, but can’t get through to anyone. Maybe because it’s Sunday?

Anybody else had Sync incorrectly report a limit? I’ll call them again tomorrow, but will they do anything? And if not, do I dispute it with TU I opened the account and charged the amount, does it let you add a note about exactly what you’re disputing? I’ve never had to dispute anything before, I have no idea how it works. I may just close the card, I have never had any problems with Sync with my Amazon card, but if they’re going to report this incorrectly then I don’t exactly trust them going forward.

Re: Synchrony incorrect reporting?

Synchrony better get it together or they're going to lose lots of customers

I haven't really heard of a case where they DID report consistently and/or correctly in 90% of circumstances. The problem is since you have such a low CL you don't have much bargaining power to get them to act.

How much do you spend with Lowes per year (cash or credit)? If it's more than $5k they will listen and take action. If it's 10k+ the issue will be escalated.

You have to spend VIP levels to get the co-brand partner to put pressure on the issuer to act IMO. We spend at least 10k on Amazon annually and when I complain they generally listen.

Re: Synchrony incorrect reporting?

Some years I spend a lot, others not so much. Averaging, probably not $5000, so unfortunately I may be out of luck. I was about to spend about $2000 next month, and another $5000+ over the next few months as we remodel, so I guess if they don’t fix it then my business goes to Home Depot instead.

I’ve heard not great things about Sync, but as I said, I never had problems with my Amazon store card.
