Congratulations! That's a nice jump in score!
On the bright side, now you can complain about how you can't get that last point to get 800 ![]()
Thanks dman.
Does EQ, and TU do their own trolling of public records or, are they buying them from a third party? At least with a collection you can make good with a PFD and it's gone forever. These public records are tough to make go away.

You're welcome. I don't know the answer to that.
I would dispute and refer them to that section of the FCRA I posted. That should do it.
Will do

799 looks much cooler than 800. ![]()
Congratulations!!! That's a nice reward!
I have 5 tax liens. Two were from the state. They were paid in Sept of '14. TU deleted those from my CR. EQ and EX only reports one (each reports a different one)
For my 3 IRS liens, each report has something different. TU reports all of them while EQ and EX report two (also different)
Strange but I guess I'll go with it.
Let me know if I got this right. Liens stay on CRs for 10 years from the assessment date if they aren't paid (SOL is 10 years). If you pay them off, they report for 7 years. But, if you go with the IRS Fresh Start Program and enter into a Direct Debit agreement, they will withdraw the liens after 3 payments are made.
I researched this a little more as I was typing, A couple of links that might be helpfull -
http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/removing-federal-tax-lien-from-your-credit-report.html

https://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/Understanding-a-Federal-Tax-Lien
It seems like you have a better chance of having the liens withdraw in the Fresh Start program than you do if you just straight out pay them off.

Federal tax lien went on my public record in the local courthouse early 2007.
Started a payment plan with the IRS and made the final payment in September 2014 and it was released.
After I closed on my home in May of 2015 I filed disputes with EX, EQ, and TU and they the removed the derogatories from my report within a couple of weeks.
Much to my surprise in December it popped back up on EQ and a few days later it came back up on TU also (EX did not put it back on). I went back to both of them immediately, they did not remove them but, at least they changed the status to Paid in September 2014.
Based on the FCRA it should have been off as soon as lien was satisfied as September 2014 is more than 7 years from when lien was filed.
I would dispute again and refer to:
§ 605. Requirements relating to information contained in
consumer reports [15 U.S.C. § 1681c]
(a) Information excluded from consumer reports. Except as authorized under
subsection (b) of this section, no consumer reporting agency may make
any consumer report containing any of the following items of information:
(1) Cases under title 11 [United States Code] or under the Bankruptcy
Act that, from the date of entry of the order for relief or the date of
adjudication, as the case may be, antedate the report by more than 10
years.
(2) Civil suits, civil judgments, and records of arrest that from date
of entry, antedate the report by more than seven years or until the
governing statute of limitations has expired, whichever is the longer
period.
(3) Paid tax liens which, from date of payment, antedate the report by
more than seven years.
If you get nowhere file IRS Form 11227 and that will get it removed.
This was top post in google search.
"Under federal law, unpaid tax liens can remain on credit reports indefinitely, though in practice credit bureaus may remove them after a decade or so. (Once paid and released, a tax lien must be removed seven years from the date it was filed.) Jan 30, 2014"
What happens if the taxes have run out of SOL (which will happen to half the taxes on my lien soon). The lien will still be released so I'm hoping it will be the same. My lien was filed in mid 2010 so Maybe it will go poof in late 2017. That would make my year for sure. :]

Congrats Captool. And yes, I had a few... All gone now.
I'll respectfully disagree with some of the interpretations posted in this thread of when paid liens come off the report.
I would key on the word "payment" in the quoted literature above.
Maybe Robert or Norman will drop by with an interpretation.
The 3 CRAs may also have their own policies that are more liberal.
if you have had a federal tax lien and it is paid, the process is well documented to have them withdrawn and subsequently removed from your credit report
if anyone needs help with what to put in the box on the form 12277, PM me.
As for state tax liens, there are some methods that may or may not work that cannot be discussed here.
some states are particularly difficult, CA comes to mind
