I don't recall exactly how long I had that card, but I think they sent it to me when they lost Costco. We buy most of our groceries at the local supermarket, not Costco, so we'd been using the BCE consistently for a few years. Other than groceries, the card is worthless. I'm not going to use a card that doesn't maximize my personal gain just to keep some algorithms happy.

Agreed 100%. That's the only thing I use it for and usually it's rendered useless for groceries as well half the year between Discover and Freedom offering 5% on groceries.
So this happened to me last summer, I just got around to seeing this thread. My CL was sliced in half, but a quick phone call restored it back to the original CL the same day.
Here are my data points on my Amex Blue:
Amex is my second most used card after Discover, I've had the card for almost 18 years. It's always PIF, never carries a balance.
