The O/C

I recently talked to an OC and they said they would definitly take a payment that has been sent to collections.  now my question is what kind of letter do i send them, so it can be removed from my CR.  I would assume a PFD.. though is it true I have to dispute the amount?

Thank you!

Re: The O/C

Yes, you can send them a PFD letter without disputing the amount in question.

Get everything in writing. Make sure you do not have a CA reporting this on your CRA's. If so, stress in your letter that the OC is to pull this back from them and ALL derog's will be deleted from your CRA's.

What kind of account is it?  what is the DOFD or DOLA?  what is your SOL?

Re: The O/C

This is a past cableone account. The SOL is 4 years for an open account--how do I know if it is open?  The DOLA is May of 2005. The Balance Date is November of 2005.  is there a difference?

I have another collection account on my CRs also for Cableone, also with the same Collection agency.  My CR says paid.  I don't have any record of it, nor does Cableone. I was to call the CA to at least get account numbers, and info.  Do i want to considering I am going to pay off the unpaid account through the OC directly? Or should I just wait until I have both accounts paid off and dispute?

I hope this helps!  Thanks!

Thank you so much. I think i am going to try this route. Cableone seemed very nice to work with, considering the circumstances.

Open account is the TYPE of account most come under this......promissary covers auto & mortgage loans....things that you sign for & usually have a certain amount paid until PIF.

This is an open account & if SOL is 4 years  your are within it.......send a PFD to the OC.  Ignore the CA  until you receive an answer from OC....make sure that it is worded exact.....they will accept payment & will not report to any credit reporting agency!!!  It must be on their letterhead and signed!

After you receive their letter  send a check right away.

Wait a few weeks after they cash the check & then DV the CA.

NOW im taking it that the OC is not reporting  just the CA is.

Re: The O/C

Though the other question lingers. I have another account with Cableone, according to the credit reports. It is noted as paid with a 0 balance. Cableone didn't have an account number or any other pertinant information. She suggested that i call CMI and get that info. Should I call now, or wait until I have the PFD taken care of?

Thanks again!

Re: The O/C

I did send a PFD letter and I ended up receiving a letter from the collection agency. I originally send the PFD letter to the creditor ( CableOne) should I find out an actual person at CableOne to direct a letter to?
Thanks!
