There is a credit card I opened early 2008 that reports to just EQ and EX. At first everything reported correctly, but, a month or two after recording, EX showed the limit as an amount significantly less, and it lowered my score due to what appeared to be nearly 100% utilization. I filed a dispute and it was fixed.
Fine, but, a month later, the same thing happened, and whenever I file a dispute, it won't allow me. So, last month, I got fed up and called them. At first, there was a very rude lady who answered and wouldn't even acknowledge the account was on my file, then, she got really nasty with me for no apparent reason...we didn't get as far as her acknowledging the account!!! But then, after a gazillion calls, I got through to a nice lady who kept telling me it can't be their fault, but that she'd submit a dispute, and that if I called my bank and had them send her something, she'd fix it immediately. Well, she had it fixed in just one day!
Just a few weeks later (today), the information is incorrect AGAIN! When I called a lady, she was not really letting me speak (I was totally nice w/no attitude at all, and she wouldn't let me speak), and she told me my bank needs to send them something. She claims I cannot go by the information my bank sent them just a few weeks ago (for the second time), and she also refused to dispute it again. So, I have to go through all this drama, and it's killing me because my score took a major hit again and it's just days before I apply for a mortgage loan.
Seriously, what is wrong with these folks? They keep posting false information on my credit file and are not willing to change despite the letters from my bank, history on their files, and my ongoing complaints. Should I sue them for them to take me seriously?
By the way, this is so strange...I just called them again and got a very nice lady who went through the information on file, called my bank on three-way, and fixed the file immediately. It was just that easy. She even noted my situation in the system for folks to look out when I called.
Let's see what happens next month, when it is incorrect again...
If the above is fact...I'd like to know WHY someone with a name similar to my dh, who filed bk..appeared on DH's EQ report? It took MONTHS to rectify this. They ALSO reported our sons information (student loans). The CRA are not blameless.

In the credit bureau's defense they are only reporting what the financial institution reports to them. If each month they are showing erroneous information, it's because your financial institution continues to report incorrect information to them. If you file a dispute with the bureau about the information they have to get verification from the financial institution as to whether or not the information is correct. I believe your anger is directed at the wrong people.
Only trouble is, that hasn't been established. We don't know if the financial institution did in fact send incorrect information, or if their information was in fact correct and the CRA dropped the ball.
If I were in that situation, I would ask the financial institution to CC: whatever they send the CRAs to me.

Did you read everything I wrote? If, this is true, why is it that it only happens with EX and not EQ, and it is repetitive? Also, most importantly, on a whole different topic, why are they so nasty when I call them? They REFUSE to investigate, when, it is their jobs to investigate if we, the consumers, say the information is incorrect!!! Each time I called (except twice, when just two women were kind enough to help me), they were extremely rude to me. I was very nice and couldn't even get my initial complaints out.
For instance, when I called today and told the woman which account I needed help with, I told her the first few numbers and the date opened...I just so happen to have two with the same bank under the same number, but, different types of loans. First, when I told her my situation, she kept cutting me off and saying, "no, uh uh, you need to contact your bank" before letting me even finish, but, secondly, when I told her about the account itself, she said, "okay, well this is an account in positive standing, so, what is your problem?" with an attitude. When I told her it was the other account, she said, "Yeah, well, this one is in positive standing also, so, what is your problem with it?". Like, she was being rude and speaking to me as if I were stupid before I could even tell her what's going on.
Clearly, that could not be misdirected anger at EX!!! These people are really nasty for no good reason!
jb1004, by the way, each time the dispute has actually gone through, my bank provided them with the correct information...it didn't come back as "verified". Each time it was disputed, the erroneous information has been changed. My bank has researched and said many times they are submitting correct information, btw.
Great advice, TheNewWorldMan...I am going to do this! I'm absolutely convinced this problem is being caused by some error in EX's system. A bunch of the big dogs at my bank have checked this out, and they are showing what they've reported is correct. Meanwhile, if I even msention to EX that it may be on their end, they do not even consider the possibility.
By the way, didn't EX have some huge problem with their system some time last year that took a while to be fixed? I remember reading something about this a while ago.
