What is your reason for not paying child support?
What is your reason to assume, I even have kids?
So....why are we even having this discussion (two different threads' worth) if it's not actually providing any real-world help for anyone?
Should this get moved to the SmorgasBoard or something?

I think I only created one thread...while you are stalking my posts...
No, I just like child support threads. It's often interesting discussion just based on the legal framework. But as I mentioned in the other thread, it's a bit difficult when the CRA's and state CSEA's start talking to each other, because child support and alimony aren't the same kinds of debts as a revolving or installment account.
When I'm not here, I hang out on a number of legal boards that talk about custody & support issues, plus this was an academic focus for me at one point. And I do have kids and stepkids so I've got some framework there as well.

I was just trying to help understand the situation you were trying to solve for. Most people asking this type question has a personal stake other than just random curiosity.
As far as thinking of the logic to answer your original question. Children cannot survive in this world without the compassion of some human being somewhere early on to help shelter and feed the child. Without that compassion, human children (similar to many animals) would die, as our newborns do not have the capacity to get what they need to survive. Our society develops laws to protect our children up to a certain age and ensure their better chance of survival. They put the obligation of seeing that the children are provided for on the parents. The parents can, in some circumstances, relinquish that obligation to a willing party such as another person or institution. When you become divorced, that only seperates you from your spouse, but does not relinquish any of these parental obligations unless the other spouse agrees to relinquish you. Child support is a means to have the non-custodial parent continue some of his/her share of the obligation. Non-payment of child support, then, is failing to meet this obligation that societal laws dictate are paramount to the survival of our species.Non-payment of child support is not truly a debt, it is a failure to meet these obligations.
In reality, back-child support is not a debt at all. But usually society clears you of not meeting your obligations if you take care of the back child support, since in most cases the other parent can find a way to help the child to survive (even if it takes some hardship unto them). Because society normally clears you after you've paid the back child support, we tend to correlate it to debts, such as borrowing on a credit card.
in FL if you don't pay child support they suspend your driver's license and do all kinds of stuff....

Poster was just referring to the face that there could be another post branch off of this one....sometimes we tend to stray off topic and "hijack" the OPs post that is all......no need for any negativity just normally these type of discussions are regulated to the SmorgasBoard section of this forum.....
Please remember to play nicely!!!! The possibility for jail time doesn't stem from not paying the CS, it stems from failing to follow a court order. I do understand that there are hardship cases that arise. I do believe though the intent of this is for those that can pay be made to pay.
