To use or not to use---effects on reporting

I have 6 cards---I checked a few of the statements on the ones I have NOT used in a few months----one hasn't produced a statement since 3/10/21------the last month I actually used it. So, will the cc companies NOT report if I am NOT using them?......

Possibly. I have had Comenity not report and most months I have a $0 balance and they definitely do not cut a statement.

It will just depend on the bank.

As @Anonymous notes, it depends on the lender.

This is yet another reason to use your cards occasionally (the other is that they might get closed or CLD'd if you never use them).

If you don't have a statement cut, a lot of lenders won't update the account with the CRAs.

I have a low SL Cap1 card that I usually only put 1 charge a month on.

Cap1 cuts a statement and they report the positive payment history.

Maybe try to just put a small charge on a card of something you would have bought anyway.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Re: To use or not to use---effects on reporting

Is it needed to let the balance report on new statement and then pay in full to be considered a positive payment by Fico, or will it show as account in good standing only if payed before statement closes?

If you use card but pay before statement cuts, lenders will report since account was active.

If there has been no activity and balance remains at $0.00, some may not and they are not obligated to since reporting is accurate.
