Is there a reason why you wanted to be added as an AU on these low limit cards. No judgment, just wondering.

because prior to that i had zero credit cards in my name and couldnt qualify either as i had burned cap one and credit one in the past. after working on credit the last few months. I know i needed some relvoing on my report so i had my wife add me to those cards. and my score took a medium jump. then i got a nrewards secured card from nfcu that isnt reporting yet. Then things fell off and score went up almost 100 points to get me into the 650 range. discover approved me yesterday for that 5k Sl. the main reason im keeping the cap one AU card son my profile is because they are 5 years old. so it helps my age of accounts etc...

Re: Total CL vs Income?

I had over 500K /yr income when I started to rebuild 4.6 years ago.

My CL was less than 3K between Cap 1 & Discover. (first two I got approved for, after cleaning up derogs & score was in low 600's).

3-4 months later, after some improvements, I added Lowes & Amazon. They gave me peanuts, but called in as discussed on this forum. Got Lowes to 25K in one shot, Amazon to 4K, then 10K, then 15K, where they stand now. Disco gradually got up to 21K. Cap 1 barely moved, but it's at 12.5K -- so $73,500 CL achieved. When I was at 850 in 2017 I should have asked for CLI's and opened a few more accounts but didn't bother because I didn't need it. Was focused on getting an auto loan in 2016 (which I did). Financed 95K which is what got scores to 850 across the board in 2017. Now it's paid off (last month) and I took a 40 point ding across the board, since 3 student loans also hit final payment earlier in the year. Those were 17 year TL I never paid more than minimum, since interest was lower than 3%. I'm back down to the 740's on EQ and EX, 720 on TU, but utilization is up there. Simulator says I can hit 817 EX 800 TU 811 EX with everything paid and 1 reporting less than 8%. I still don't want any HP's on my report. It's inquiry free for over 2 years, and looking for a mortgage after CC's are paid down and score goes up. I'll take SP CLI's only. After a mortgage (and taking more than I need so I can pay it down below 80% instantly), I'll revisit expanding TL's on revolvers.

Bottom line -- income doesn't seem to matter. Thicker file, age of accounts, mix of credit are where it counts.
