I filed Chapter 7 BK in 2014, and it was scheduled to fall off Trans Union in August 2024. I saw this TU # in an old MF post: (888)259-684 and called. After I verified my information, I asked the Representative if I could speak with someone from the Special Handling department. After listening to TransUnion elevator music for about 10 minutes, another Rep. came on, and I asked if he was in the Special Handling Department, to which he answered yes. I told him I had been advised that I could request an Early Exclusion from an old public record that is approaching 10 years old but I wasn't sure how much longer it would take to fall off. He confirmed the fall-off date was 8-24. I asked if it was possible to remove the account early, and he said "Sure, please hold". He returned two minutes later to calmly inform me that the account had been removed and would provide me with an updated report. I said, So the Chapter 7 bankruptcy is gone? He said, "Yes." I simply wanted to ensure he deleted the correct Account & I kindly Thanked him very much.
My TU Advantage 3.0 FAKO score was previously 736, so I immediately checked Credit Karma to notice the 83-point increase which surprised me, and I give Credit Karma a thumbs up for the quick update. My FICO 8 TU score is 756 with the BK and four old 30-day late payments on a Barclay card. One of the 30-day baddies dates back to 2017, with three others following suit. I asked if the one from 2017 could be removed, and he said no. I had to dispute with the creditor - Barclays, which is still an open account in good standing, So I don't know what to do with that. Now I'm curiously waiting for my FICO 8 TU score to update. I removed the BK from my EQ & Lexis Nexis around 3 years ago during my rebuilding. I was unsuccessful with EX & never tried with TU. So I took a break from disputing, but I still had decent credit overall with 1-2% utilization, 0 inquiries for the past 2 years, 9 cards, 3 rebuilder store cards. Ikea $11k, JC penny 10k, cap 1 Walmart $1,500, cap1 Silver WEMC originally a secured Platinum MC Bucket $3,500, Cap1 Venture1 WEMC upgraded from MC Secured Platinum Bucket $4k, 2 Barclays rewards cards $6,600 & $3,800, Discover $12,800, Navy Fed Cash Rewards 20K & 1 NFCU pledge loan 5 yr. $3,500 paid down to 92%, which was my last account opened in 2022. Since then, I have been Gardening And after this BK falls off from Experian, I want to apply for my first Amex credit card or business card. Any suggestions, or what were your starting limits on your first Amex cards?
Does anyone have any data points or experience with requesting EE from Experian? If so, what would be a good approach—online or by phone? I am grateful to every one of my FICO members for the Invaluable knowledge and information I have gained here.
@Capricornwon You've brought something I wasn't aware of, to my attention. My BK7 should be coming off in Sept of this year, I wasn't aware you could request to remove it early. I'm willing to give it a shot. I saw the number you posted for TU. If you have the numbers to the others I will gladly take them as well. This is definitely worth a shot getting that cleared up a few months early. Please post if you have any luck with the other CRAs.
I don't have much experience with AMEX Business, but I can tell you they have been very nice to me, even with the BK7.
I have 3 cards with them:
BCP: 15K Limit
Hilton Aspire: 25K Limit
Marriott Brilliant: 35K Limit
I got them in that order.
(800) 493-1058 for Experian-(automated system ask for new dispute), (877) 784-2528 for Equifax (888) 259-6845 TransUnion Experian 3 month early exclusion, TransUnion 6 month, Equifax 1 month. Some people have also had success disputing online and saying account too old requesting Early Exclusion. It was easy over the phone with TU. Let me know if you got it removed from TU Good Luck!
I can confirm Transunion will EE either online or by phone well before the drop off date, in my case it was almost 2 years early. The others are pretty strict on that so I'd wait on them.
Wow, you had it removed two years early, I wish I had requested it sooner Congrats!
I've seen others get it removed well before the fall off date but in my case it seems to be pretty rare to have it dropped that early. It doesn't hurt to ask!
On 5/30 I requested EE with TransUnion online on a Dismissed Ch7 BK from 3/2019. As of yesterday 6/2, the BK is gone. About 5 years early.
Wow, 5 years early, Congratulations!! What option did you select online, and what details did you give in your request?
Thank you!
I selected "Other" and said:
"Not a dispute, requesting an early exclusion of this item from my report. Thank you."
I have one more collection due to fall off in a year. I was afraid to do them both at once, lol. But I'm probably going to repeat the process on this last collection and see what happens.
I didn't have the "Other" option to select when I was on Transunion Services ( the free version) That's why ended up doing it over the phone. I'm curious are you using a paid subscription of TU online to dispute? I can't locate it.
