Looks like there was a thread on this a long time ago but nothing recent.
Anyone else notice/having the problem that TransUnion is reporting much later than the other two CBs?
At first I thought it was just a lag from the 3rd party reporters like myFico, CreditKarma and the freebie alerts that come with your credit cards - so I went directly to TransUnion and pulled reports (several times now) and nope, they just aren't updating.
For example, my Kohls, Lowe's and another Visa all have statement date of the 2nd of the month. Usually get alerts/show up by the 4th. I've noticed TU doesn't show it until the 8th or so sometimes.
Well now here we are on the 19th of the month and neither of the 3 cards have been updated on TransUnion. And of course I had balances on them as December reporting. And of course I've paid them down to less than $10. And of course I am waiting on these to hit in order to finalize my purchase of a brand new car. And OF COURSE my credit union uses TransUnion.
All 3 cards said they have reported as normal and report to all bureaus at the same time. TransUnion just yadda-yaddas me saying that if it isn't updated, they didn't receive anything. All 3 of these cards have different issuers, so it's not like an issuer just had a glitch.
Is there anything that can be done? Dispute the balances? And if I dispute the balances and go ahead with my purchase is the lender going to see any red flags? (I *should* be ok even if those balances still show, but I don't want to take any chances, hence the stalking of my credit report.)
Transunion is always the last one to update for me as well. I don't know why it takes them longer seeing as they aren't "more accurate" than the others or doing anything else "special". What you have to understand though is that ultimately we aren't the customers of these credit bureaus. They literally only let us see our reports becuase the law says they have to and before the laws changed they didn't let people see them. There was a time (not even that long ago in the grand scheme of things) when customers weren't even allowed to see the credit scores lenders used to judge them by. I feel like TU does the bare minimum to "follow the law" and that's about it. Technically they are doing what they have to but they aren't going to do anything they aren't compelled by law to do either. None of them go out of their way to help us but some seem to be better than others.
Both TU and EQ can lag in their reporting/updating scoring, but I've found when looking at my score alerts on MyFico, then looking at the table for alerts, that for me, the longest stretch without updating scores has gone about 7 days so if you can, I'd wait it out and see what happens.
TU has led the pack on reporting slow at times. The others do to rarely with a lot less incidents. Theres nothing to dispute for now. Eventually it will catch up with the rest. Patience grasshopper.
