Trying to get CA's removed

I tried to get a CA removed that is owned by NCO Financial.  It is set to drop off of TU 7/08.  I called them and asked them to remove because they are still showing a balance owed and it was included in my bankruptcy.  They offered to update the info but not delete.  Should I have them update it or just let it be since it is going to fall off next year anyway.  I don't know if it would restart the 7 year clock if they updated the info.  Any help would be appreciated.

If the information is being reported inaccurately, dispute it with the CRAs.

Re: Trying to get CA's removed

Would it still fall of in 7/08 like it is supposed to now, and is it really hurting my score that much since it is nearly 7 years old.  Thanks

Re: Trying to get CA's removed

May not be hurting your score as much as you think it is since it is 7 yrs old. Some people have said colls. have dropped off or been taken off that are more than 5 yrs old and not see a score jump.

That beign said you never know w/ Fico what it will do.

Re: Trying to get CA's removed

BK 7, 11 and 12's remain 10 years from the filing date, BK 13 for 7 years from filing, accounts stay on for 7 years from the date reported as included in the BK.  This does not mean that the OC or CA is prevented from GW-ing them off etc., it works like any other TL.

They cannot legally 'reset the clock' if you ask them to update it since they won't delete it.  It is discharged and no longer a collectable debt.  With NCO, I don't know... if it were me I would wait the 10 months less they screw it up, unless I was wanting to apply for credit etc.   It's certainly not unreasonable though to have them update it, I just hope they do it accurately and not create more of a problem.

Thanks for the help, I went ahead and disputed it, I am in the process of purchasing my first home, so I am needing to get these taken care of and get my scores as high as possible between now and March when my home will be complete.
