UPDATE - Six months progress

So I have been a member of MYFICO for six months now and . . . wow . . . the results I have seen amaze me.  I have gotten so much help from so many people on this board and want to thank everyone for their advice.  Special thanks to HappyDays, Timothy, LadyScarlet, Sylviatob, and SmartCookie.  My FICO scores are in my siggy below.

Re: UPDATE - Six months progress

I have been a lurker for several months and finally decided to join and post. I have been thru my far share of credit screwups, bit the bullet and fixed them. I mean fix as in pay my debts and suffer the penaltys of my indiscretions. I realize that everyone makes mistakes, some see the light, correct their mistakes and become better people. I also realize that correcting past mistakes can take a long time. I think that is the purpose of mearning from our mistakes. Perhaps this poster has learned and will never makes those mistakes again. I personally hope so! However, with that being said, Do all of you who congratulate this poster and similar posters really feel that it's ethical to use legal loopholes to skip on debt? Bitching and whining to CA's and CRA's and OC's playing silly games with GW's and DV's when

Re: UPDATE - Six months progress

I have been a lurker for several months and finally decided to join and post.

I have had my far share of credit screwups in the past, bit the bullet and fixed them. I mean fix as in pay my debts and suffer the penaltys of my indiscretions.

I realize that everyone makes mistakes, some see the light, correct their mistakes and become better people.

I also realize that the penaltys for past mistakes can take a long time to fade. I think that is the purpose of learning from our mistakes.

Perhaps this poster has learned and will never makes those mistakes again. I personally hope so!

However, with that being said,

Do all of you who congratulate this poster and similar posters really feel that it's ethical to use legal loopholes to skip on debt? Bitching and whining to CA's and CRA's and OC's! Playing silly games with GW's and DV's when YOU KNOW THE DEBT IS VALID is not ethical.

You STOLE the money or service. Read that again! You are no better than a thief.

Yet you all seem to think is all a great challenge to make sure that the CA's and such follow the law. So they break the law trying to collect money and services that you have stolen and you get all uptight! You don't pay the bill, you don't negotiate payments. You use legal loopholes to get the valid debts dropped or removed.

Yes, eventually you will have a better credit score. Yes, you will probably get more money loaned to you. Have you really grown as a person. Have you really learned right from wrong? NO. You just found another way to scam the system. Another way to "legally" steal!

I am all for making good on our past failures! All these bogus letters to AG's, etc is ridiculous and just one more round of "IT'S NOT MY FAULT!". PAY YOUR FREAKING BILLS!

MAN UP!

You played, now pay!

As a small business owner who has to deal with the likes of all you GW/DV letter writers. Your DV does not replace my inventory!

Re: UPDATE - Six months progress

Bill, I say, don't be mad b/c you didn't get a PFD to get the debts removed from your CR. If you are stupid enough to pay a CA, just b/c they say that you owe a debt, then that's you. Do you know how many CAs will try to collect thousands of dollars on a debt that is a) past SOL , b) that they bought for pennies on the dollar c) that started out at a fraction of what they are attempting to collect? The purpose of a DV is to ask the CA, who are they to collect from me. If they don't have the right (can't validate) they don't get paid.

You're a small business owner, as am I. If I send you an invoice tomorrow, are you going to pay it? Of course not, as you didn't contract anything with me. Same concept doc. Before you get judgmental of posters, please bother to understand what is behind the post. Perhaps it was from a messy divorce or the death of a spouse or an accident that debilitated them for a period of time.

This is a rather positive forum and you don't have the right to come in and rain on anyone's parade. And to call us thieves--you are out of line. Get off of your self-righteous soapbox. But that's what happens when you fly off half-cocked--you make a mess of everything.
